Muirfield Views

An existing house on the property was removed for the new house & landscape, drastically changing the layout of the site. The client wanted a classically impressive entrance to the home to do justice to the detailed architecture of the residence. A more understated backyard space helps focus one’s attention on the views of the perfectly manicured Muirfield golf course.

Since the clients host many events complete circulation around the house was necessary, especially when servicing the increased foot traffic brought during the Memorial Tournament.

To make the house fit on the sloped site large retaining walls were required, further integrating the house into the landscape it inhabits.

Clay brick was used for the driveway, contrasted with bluestone for the front entrance auto court. Full color bluestone was used for the patio and walkways with a corresponding brick border. These materials match the classic look of the house and will never go out of style while a mortared installation ensures longevity.
Larger plants were used to create a more impactful look at installation, the front of the house is very formal and symmetrical, the sides of the house were planted thoughtfully to help soften the large retaining wall.
