This project involved a new build in the New Albany Country Club Community. The client wanted a private courtyard that complemented the neighborhood’s sense of place while providing functional outdoor living and entertaining areas.
The completed courtyard delivers a private, functional, and visually cohesive outdoor space. Distinct gathering areas, thoughtful hardscape, and well-placed plantings provide both usability and aesthetic appeal. The fireplace and outdoor kitchen enhance the space for entertaining, while the screening wall ensures privacy, creating a serene courtyard that fits perfectly within the New Albany community.
GreenScapes created a carefully designed courtyard that balances functionality, privacy, and visual appeal:
Outdoor Kitchen & Grill Island: Installed a grill island with a granite bar area for additional seating and entertaining. A cedar trellis was added above the outdoor kitchen to provide vertical interest and break up the brick of the house.
Hardscape Design: Used pavers in multiple sizes and coordinating colors to complement the home’s brickwork and unify the courtyard design.
Symmetrical Layout: Arranged plantings, the outdoor kitchen, screening wall, and fireplace to create a balanced, cohesive space.
Privacy & Separation: Built a screening wall to create a strong separation between the client’s courtyard and the neighboring patio.
Fireplace Feature: Incorporated a fireplace with a reclaimed sandstone hearth to serve as a central gathering point and break up the long run of the wall, adding both function and visual interest.
