Franklin Park Conservatory
Live Wall

When the new visitor’s entrance was being designed at Franklin Park Conservatory, GreenScapes Landscape Company’s founder, Bill Gerhardt, proposed an almost 3 story tall wall to greet visitors and to emphasize the Conservatory’s mission, which is “to improve quality of life and connect the community through nature. We strive to make our gardens a place where everyone can come together and share the beauty of the natural world. It is our promise to continue to create an experience that is safe and welcoming for everyone.”

With that in mind, Bill wanted the visitors to experience just that—the connection through nature as soon as community members walked into the conservatory. Since the live green wall was not in the original concept for the visitor entrance and not part of the budget, Bill agreed to support whatever it took to include the green wall in the construction.

To make this happen, GreenScapes Landscape Company helped with the design and donated the entire installation of the living green wall. In 2016 the dream became a reality and the prominent feature of the new visitor’s entry to Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
