GreenScapes Landscape Co. was selected to complete the full landscape installation for the ADAMH Franklin County Crisis Center in Columbus, Ohio. Designed by NBBJ, this facility required a detailed and logistically complex installation, with plantings and hardscapes spread across both the ground level and multiple rooftop courtyards.
This project demonstrates GreenScapes’ expertise in commercial landscape installation, large-scale plantings, and rooftop courtyard construction. Our team coordinated closely with the general contractor to meet deadlines and used specialized equipment to ensure all rooftop materials were placed safely and efficiently.
Ground Level Plantings
GreenScapes placed over 1,000 cubic yards of soil and installed a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and perennials. These plantings were designed to soften the building’s footprint, create welcoming green spaces, and enhance the therapeutic environment for patients and visitors.
Rooftop Courtyards
The rooftop spaces presented unique logistical challenges, as all materials needed to be lifted by crane to the upper levels. Our team installed over 13,000 shrubs and perennials, as well as trees, sod, and pavers to create functional and restorative courtyards. These elevated landscapes provide accessible outdoor areas for staff and patients, designed to support healing and well-being.
Specialized Installation Techniques
Given the complexity of transporting and installing soil, plant material, and pavers to the roof, GreenScapes relied on detailed planning and sequencing to execute the work efficiently. Crane operations allowed for safe placement of all materials, ensuring the courtyards were built to exact design specifications.
